A Superlative Album!
A superlative album! It is nearly impossible to describe the repertoire quality and performances in this release. More than a collection of hits (all new recordings), Sou Eu is arguably Simone’s best album. Singing old and new songs with new arrangements, Simone bares her soul. Some interesting facts: (1) there are no compositions by Ivan Lins; (2) fourth recording of “Iolanda”; (3) only eight musicians took part in the recordings, proving that an excellent release does not need special guest stars. Ricardo Leão signed the arrangements. This is definitely a desert-island CD.
