A Departure
For the first time in 11 years, a Simone album does not include a song by Sueli Costa. This in no way affected the overall quality of Sedução. The repertoire included a nice rendition of Cazuza’s “Codinome Beija-Flor” as well as the brega du jour with Michael Sullivan/Paulo Massadas’s “Amei Demais.” The duet with Plácido Domingo was beautiful.. Undoubtedly, Ronaldo Bastos’s version rivals the original lyrics in “Apaixonou.” The pop arrangement in “Kalú” is new and surprising. In “O Tempo não Pára,” Simone delves deeper in her appreciation of Brazilian rock. And closing once again, the percussion ensemble of a samba group, Caprichosos de Pilares, leaves you dancing sambas non-stop. Arrangements were created by Cesar Camargo Mariano, Cristóvão Bastos, Ricardo Leão, Byron Olson and Sergio Sá.
