Superb Repertoire and Performances
Face A Face was another polished released by Simone. As a follow-up to Gotas d’Água, this album left no one unsatisfied. The careful song selection giving emphasis to Mílton Nascimento’s group from Minas Gerais was definitely evident here. The musicians included, among others, Gílson Peranzzetta, Mílton Nascimento, Danilo Caymmi and Beto Guedes. Arrangements were created by Eduardo Souto Neto and Mílton Nascimento. Here we also see the start of a long succession of hits penned by Sueli Costa. Besides the title track, “Jura Secreta” became a Simone standard. The album also contained the theme song of the Bruno Barreto movie Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands, “O que Será.” Closing one of her best albums ever, Simone gives all her passion to Gonzaguinha’s bolero “Começaria Tudo Outra Vez.”
