Uneven
Another Mazola production, this was an unfortunate release. With ups and downs in the repertoire, Corpo e Alma also showed a significant lack of Brazilian musicians — even though Roupa Nova did some background vocals. David Foster, Lee Ritenour, Nathan East, Harvey Mason and Randy Herber were certainly not responsible for a weak album, but the end result was noticeably far from Brazil. The strong songs here were those by Sueli Costa and also “Alfonsina y el Mar,” with Simone singing in Spanish one more time.
