Top-Notch Guests
In a new recording contract with Columbia, Simone started off with a strong release. Amar brought her together with producer Mazola, and taking care of the artistic direction, Cesar Camargo Mariano, Luiz Avellar and Wagner Tiso were responsible for the excellent arrangements. Besides their guest appearances, other musicians included Hélio Delmiro, Márcio Montarroyos and Sivuca. This was also the first time Simone recorded Tom Jobim: “Espelhos das Águas.” Another first was Simone’s recording in Spanish: Pablo Milanés’s “Yo no Te Pido.” It is hard to pick one song alone as representative of this album, but the closing duet with Gal Costa and Toquinho on guitar stands out among the other gems.
