Ivan Lins’ Tribute

Back in 2000, Telarc released a beautiful album with Ivan Lins, A Love Affair: The Music of Ivan Lins. The album featured performances by Sting, Vanessa Williams, Grover Washington, Jr., New York Voices, Chaka Khan and other jazz/soul artists. Now Believe What I Say: The Music of Ivan Lins revisits Ivan’s repertoire. The emphasis here is more pop oriented. Arrangements are clearly geared to introducing Ivan’s music to a newer generation. Guest performers include d’Nessa, Yazmin, Luciana Mello, Nilson Chaves, Jair Oliveira, Charito and others. Some of Ivan’s best known songs are well represented here, such as “Dinorah, Dinorah,” “Começar de Novo,” “Antes que Seja Tarde” and several others for a total of 15 well produced and pleasantly appealing up-beat performances.
