Simone, Márcia, Leny Andrade & Ari Vilela: Expo-Som 73 – Ao Vivo

With Friends

Expo-Som 73It should be enough, perhaps, to simply point out that a show involving Simone, Leny Andrade, Ari Vilela and Márcia should be a good event. The singers do a good job, and the variety of the repertoire is also a good indication. However, since this is a live recording from the 1970s, the sound quality is not that great. Simone sings Dorival Caymmi, and other songwriters here include Tom Jobim and Monsueto. The first song performed by Simone, “Nem Eu,” has a nice beat and sounds like a precursor of the types of arrangements that we’d hear later through Elis Regina. In the next track, Simone explains her choice of singing Dorival Caymmi. She says that he’s probably the Bahian composer who mostly loved the sea and Bahia. Finally, she closes nicely with “Fechei a Porta.”
